Spirit Cafe - a true health cafe with heart

This great little cafe in Constantia Village is situated below Yoga Spirit. Created as an addition to the yoga offering upstairs. But you won't just find sweaty yogis here.  It has become a hang out for anyone wanting a healthy vegetarian or vegan eating spot. Sit down or take away the offering of delicious food is hard to resist. 

 

Spirit Cafe is open from 8:00am to 4:30pm serving breakfast, lunch and indulgent cakes. Breakfast options include homemade muesli, chia pots, gluten and sugar free muffins as well as a few cooked breakfast options. Lunch is a wonderful buffet of 4 delicious salads and a daily main, all change daily.

 

We tried the Spirit Bowl which consists of 4 half portions of each salad at R78. Each salad was light and tasty. On the day we visited the salads on offer were sorgham with dukkah carrots and toasted chickpeas, robot veggies with herby mayonnaise, kale and cauliflower with sautéed onions and turmeric summer slaw. What's not to love!

 

Fresh juices come in two sizes and are well thought out with additional spices they range in price from R35 to R55. Smoothies are a meal in themselves and are jam packed with healthy ingredients including superfoods. What I love about their smoothies is not every smoothie has banana and/or dates which makes a nice change for those who don't like the smoothies too sweet prices vary from R45 - R65.

 

Staff are friendly and welcoming and they will help you negotiate the menu. This is an authentic cafe where environmental consideration means glass straws replace awful plastic straws, brilliant. Spirit Cafe is a little gem in the heart of Constantia and is definitely worth a visit. Best news is that a second Spirit Cafe is opening in Dunkley Square, Gardens.
